It was the best museum inside! Very interactive and cool. My favorite was the little town scene they had set up: complete with ninjas!!!
While we were in the castle, it started to storm. We hung out there for awhile and then decided to buy some umbrellas in the gift shop. We braved the rain and went to a mall across the street and had some lunch at an Italian restaurant. After lunch, it cleared up and the drum festival began.
Groups from the surrounding area came to participate. There were 100 groups this year. They compete for the best group. Each group had a bunch of people (including kids) that carried rope in front of the float. One person had a megaphone and would shout something at the people. They would chant. The float contained the taiko drum and a couple people would follow along beating the drum.
There were a ton of spectators there too. I love seeing the Japanese in their kimono. The summer kimono is called a yukata. It's a light cotton one that doesn't have all the layers of the formal winter kimono.
